Looking for more authentic Cuba. Chicken chunks, pork chunks, Cuban bread, Cuban coffee...will give it another try as they just opened but expected more authentic Cuban food.
Superb meal. Vaca frita on point and the cortadito is A+mazing!
Our Christmas dinner was a big disappointment! Granted, the restaurant had only been open for 9 days, but that is not an excuse! Upon arrival, we were seated right next to other people in (a bench style seating) although the place was virtually empty. There was no place to put coats so, they were just bunched up in between me and another patron. When our server came, in informed us that they were OUT OF RUM. Almost every specialty cocktail on their menu included rum (it's a Cuban restaurant!!). Bummer. I ordered a cocktail that did not have rum, my husband, a beer. After awhile, I was informed that they did not even have the ingredients to make the non-rum cocktail, so I opted for another drink. The server did a good job of reviewing the menu. including letting us know that the paella we inquired about takes about 30 minutes -- no worries. We ordered a few appetizers -- ceviche, cod fritters and what we thought were fried plantains. Even though we asked the server to explain "mariquitas"(as we wanted a more traditional fried plantain), when they came out, they were plantain chips (like potato chips)....the SAME plantain chips that came with the ceviche. The server should have known better to let us order a appetizer that was a duplicate of what we already ordered. The appetizers were OK. The paella was OK as well, the rice was a little under done and when serving us at the table, one of the plates was dirty. My husband's second beer was forgotten and when we received the bill, they had erroneously charged us for the cocktail they couldn't make me. Overall -- not a great experience.
I wasn't able to make it to their grand opening but was able to get into Hemingway's over the weekend and I was not disappointed. From the food, to the staff, and ultimately the overall atmosphere, this was a fantastic experience. I will definitely be back!
Nice atmosphere but a bit chilly in temperature of the room.. Wrong order came out came out.
