The service is great, the food is great. By far the best Cuban in the Asheville area. Plus the Monday night burger deals, is awesome. I go every Monday after work to work on my homework while I eat a great meal.
1st experience: Cook training new girl visibly hits the 20% gratuity button on the iPad before having her tell me my total. I don't make a big deal if it as I'm with a friend I haven't seen in a while and had planned on tipping anyways. Still, pretty big red flag for 1st experience.
I never thought I'd say I wish I went to Wendy's instead of supporting local business. Diminishes the experience of going to Hi-Wire
Love this place. High quality. Everything done with love and attention to detail. Corn dogs, Cuban sandwiches, burgers, and beyond prime cuts. What's not to love?
Meh. It was ok. The pit beef sandwich had more onions and mayo than beef. Maybe rename it to onion mayo sandwich? The salad was expensive for not much. The others in our group had similar experiences. Very little to no gravy on the gravy fries. Basically not getting a lot for the price.
Foothills cheeseburger is now getting me through my second pregnancy. They stack them TALL so be ready with an appetite. Also, hands down, the best fries in Asheville. Great little get together spot with friends to grab some sandwiches at the truck and order a pitcher (when not pregnant) in Hi Wire's airy taproom.
2nd experience: it's 4th of July (Tuesday) and I ask about "today's special" advertised in erasable marker in the food truck window. The cook tells the new girl to tell me that that was Monday's special. Strike two. I order a burger and fries which then takes an hour to come out on a stale bun with no fries. I told her at least three or four times I wanted fries. Strike three.
