Over the past 10 years I have had five major surgeries (including joint replacements) performed by doctors at Blue Ridge Bone and Joint. This is in addition to spinal and hand injections. ALL of my experiences with these physicians, the staff, and physical therapists have been excellent. Compared to the surgeries over the same time that were performed by other surgical groups in Asheville, my outcomes were far superior with BRBJ. Additionally, the availability of the surgeons for follow-up appointments and consultations was greatly appreciated.
Honestly, they are over crowded and the doctors are overscheduled. My first visit I waited for 2.5 hours, while I could hear the Dr. talking on the phone for 30 minutes. After my MRI follow up, another wait for 75 minutes. He was in the room for a total of 5 minutes, was irritated with my questions since he suggested surgery for my ACL. When I mentioned that the meds he prescribed hadn't helped at all, he refused to call in anything different. I've been hobbling around in pain for 2 weeks, as a mother with small kids, this is unacceptable. I felt like I was bothering him, when the situation should have been totally reversed. I'm going for a second opinion, there's no way this will be my surgical experience. I found the staff to be nice and helpful, just stressed and under a lot of pressure. If anyone can recommend another clinic, I'd love to hear about. Taking my MRI results to my GP tomorrow and hear what his thoughts are.
Terrible place that cares more about getting people in and out rather then properly diagnosing you. I was misdiagnosed because the doctor didn't take more then 5 minutes to examine me and sent me on my way. They barely knew what I was there for on the way out and had to send the nurses back 3 times to get a treatment plan that was useless. Don't go here you'll just be wasting your money and time.
Very disappointed in the care my husband received. No follow up by staff to refer my husband to a surgeon for a broken wrist. No phone calls from them as promised. Hard to reach by phone with long delays and disconnects. We ended up looking for another Orthopedic practice who arranged treatment and surgery the same day we contacted them. We will never go to Blue Ridge again or recommend them to anyone.
A monolith, and now that they are part of EmergeOrtho they are even worse to deal with. Wait time with an appointment is unacceptable, and patient communication is pathetic. No apparent respect for your time. Even the process to cancel an appointment is excruciating. There are other great options in the Asheville area, so look in to them. This group is too big for it's own good...and yours.
