Beautiful scenery and a step back in time! The artful presentation of the Christmas trees and floral arrangements were a pleasure to view. We had a delicious lunch at The Stable Cafe with superior service.
This is an amazing place to see. The largest private owned home in the country! Plan on a few hours in the house, I highly suggest eating at Horse Stable on site. The food is really good. You can also walk the grounds to see all of the gardens. We visited bith summer then at Christmas at night. Same tour is given through the house on both occasions. I highly suggest the night Christmas tour, fireplaces are lit, many Christmas decorations throughout the house, and live carolers on site. There are other tours like the roof top, etc, but I think you get most of what you need in the regular tour. You may save some money booking ahead, looking at $55-$75 per person. I also suggest the headset rental which you carry around a phone like device which tells you about all of the rooms.
The tour took a good two hours but is well worth it. We didn't rent the audio script that was available but it seem like a lot of people did. Took an amazing amount of pictures and just overwhelmed other technology that was available back in 1895. There was so much detail to the woodwork it was just amazing. Every window had a great View. The family still owns it today and talking to the many of the 2300 employees they are well taken care of.
Quaint shoppes. We went in the fall. My most fabulous time of the year! I'm certain that it is due to the fall foliage. I could look at tree lines for ever! I found great finds in every shoppe that I visited.
Love Biltmore Estates. If you live in the area, a season pass is the way to go so you can see the grounds in every season. It makes a great day-Trip with the family or a romantic weekend getaway. The house tour is really interesting, upgrade to the audio-headset at least once. If you don’t want to spend the money there are always tour guides stationed throughout the house to answer questions. The grounds are beautiful and if you like walking/hiking, it’s great to just walk around and explore. They’ve done an excellent job with all the restaurants and shops. The petting zoo for kids is a nice addition. I️ wish the playground was bigger and nicer but fingers-crossed they will improve it soon. I️ appreciate how nice the staff always is to us, maybe because we are members but I’ve had several occasions where they have apologized for mispronouncing my name - and it’s a silly thing that happens to my family often but only at Biltmore do we have the experience of staff apologizing and mentioning that they will try to say it correctly the next time we visit, it’s such a nice touch that I️ have to think they discussed in their job-training. They are all so consistently professional and polite, just a great customer service experience. We always look forward to spending a Saturday there with our kids or an evening for a date night - hoping to make a stay at the hotel on the grounds in the near future, I’ve heard good things about it, and like everything else there, it looks beautiful.
