Giving even one star is generous for this place. I had to rent a car due to a car accident, and came to Hertz. They gave me a car that reeked of smoke, and immediately I requested a change. They told me that they charged a hefty fee for smoking and there were no other vehicles available and to call back. I called back the next day and the day after that, and they told me still no vehicles. However, when I went online it showed that they had about 10 or so vehicles available for rent that were able to be reserved an hour from now for pickup. I then drove over the Hertz, and Kristy, was EXTREMELY rude. She said that Hertz on Patton, along will all other locations across Asheville were out of vehicles. I ended up later returning the car and renting with Enterprise. A month later, I see a charge from Hertz for 176.02 on a credit card statement, and turns out they had charged me once, as well as the insurance company too. No help when I called, and said that in her system the case was never “opened,” and she can’t help me.

The previous reviews have rated this place poorly - everything they have said is correct. They obviously have not learnt from their reviews to improve anything. We appreciate that the problem we had could not be solved at this office (not being a “corporate Hertz office”) however the level of disinterest and rudeness was appalling. Not only was she not helpful, but took a personal phone-call MID SENTENCE with us.

Hertz SUCKS !!! Went here today to pick up rental after already paying for the car I get to the office and the price went from 255 to 299 then back to 255 then up to 356, the lady at the counter was not helpful at all in explaining why the price was changing as such then finally told me because I was paying with a debit card that there was a 15$ a day charge ! Why didn't it say that online ! ? When I already paid for the car! Worst rental ever gave it two stars because they did have nicer cars

5. The owner did offer to make us a reservation with Enterprise across the street. But we were sent by Robbie to the wrong Enterprise location.

Terrible way to start a vacation.

1. Robbie, from customer service, was very rude and had a "guilty until proven innocent" attitude.

4. Why do they need to check my credit to rent a car?

What a terrible experience at Hertz on Patton (actually all of them). Will not recommend them to anyone! We had a reservation for an SUV at 8 made 4 weeks ahead of time, not only did they not have our car, but only had just 2 cars on the lot. And two other people came in behind us with the same rental reservation an were also turned away. Their partner/sister locations wouldn’t answer the phone to help them get cars. And another guy was trying to pick up 1 of the 2 cars there and the battery was dead, so he couldn’t get his car. This experience is an embarrassment to their company. I can’t understand why if you have a reservation for a car (let alone knowing they had THREE of the same, that they couldn’t get cars there ahead of time. Total failure.

2. After jumping through all their hoops, we had to go back to the bank to get a new cashier check with a different name. (Due to not trained staff making this clear)

I try to never write negative reviews, but this was a horrible experience with Hertz. My boyfriend just got back from Afghanistan, and we couldn't rent a car from them and went through 2 hours of the following:

3. After returning a second time, we were told that because we were using a debit card they needed a 24 hour reservation. They knew we were paying with a debit card all along. No apologies received. We left with no car rented.

Appalling service from a rude and disinterested staff member.
