This place was awesome! Just about everything you could possibly want was sold here. If you want something basic for an outdoor adventure, want some candy from a barrel, or want a little toy for your kiddo, this is a good place to go. I spent way more time here than I was planning.
Situated in the heart of old downtown Asheville, its a wonderful place for locals & tourists alike. High quality casual clothes as well as a large selection of outdoor and technical wear. A carryover from the old general store days is the candy by the price or pound and toys and novelties department. Mast is a must see when downtown
I love the old feeling of this place. It makes me feel like I'm back in time in North Carolina! Being from Florida, I don't have that many experiences like that. We always have to go to Mast when we come to Asheville! We never go away empty handed! The unique selection of items is wonderful, weather looking for something for yourself, or a gift for someone else.
This is a great place. It's primarily outdoor clothing and gear, but they do still have the kind of things every general store had 100 years ago. I love the candy barrels full of kinds of candy I haven't seen since I was a kid.
What a wonderful experience for the outdoor type. I have been to most of the Mast General stores but this one is my favorite. The selection of goods is always great and the staff go out of their way to find exactly what you are searching for. The building is one of the older buildings in Asheville and it certainly adds to the experience.
