I can usually get help from staff if I can't find something or just need a good suggestion.
I spend way too much money here but it's always worth it to have a solid book in hand.
I still look down on the company for coming in across the street from another bookstore to run them out of business but that's business.
As much as I love looking for the next book to buy, I wish there was another good alternative.
A great day for coupons & sales. Staff was over-the-top helpful.
Best B&N Ive been to! Very clean, nice layout, great atmosphere, and everyone's super nice... Was there earlier today, and had a super nice cashier (Wish I could remember his name) who let me run to get an extra book when he told me that they were B1G1 free, and gave me a dollar to help me pay so I didn't have to leave to get one... Love this place
Lots of books but frequently find the location of subjects out of place and stand there spinning around looking for something. Perhaps it is signage but the layout gets irritating.
I love this place! The most up to date books and friendly people.
The store is big and has many great selections, but the customer service is severely lacking. I am traveling with a friend and had many things to carry, so I wanted to purchase something from the store to get a plastic bag for carrying. A man named Doc rung me out and was incredibly rude and made me uncomfortable. When I asked if I could get a big bag and he looked at me stern faced and asked, "Why?" When I explained that I needed it to carry my other things, he tersely stated, "So you are just buying something for the bag." I am making a purchase and giving you business, what do you care why I made the purchase? After that, he asked me if I would like to sign up for a Barnes and Noble gift card. I politely declined, but he kept insisting that I consider signing up for it. Another review mentioned that they were belittled and treated like they didn't know how to do math when they declined the membership - I am absolutely sure that they were rung out by Doc, as he did the same thing to me. Then, when he accepted my money he took out a bag and reminded me how much of favor he was doing for me by giving me this bag. He then handed me my receipt and coupon, telling me to use the coupon at the cafe. I was so uncomfortable and desperately wanted to leave that I did not realize he did not hand me back my money. When my friend and I left the store I realized I did not have change and we looked in my bag and purse. The cash I handed to him was the only cash I had, so I definitely did not have it. I returned to the store and spoke with Doc again. I politely explained that I did not receive my change back,as we were distracted by our conversation about the bag. I gave him the receipt. He immediately suspected me and did not trust my statement. He never even confirmed whether he did or did not remember handing the money to me. Instead, he begrudgingly said, "For me to check, I will need to count the til." I said that was fine and waited patiently. The amount I was owed was $12.52. When Doc returned, he said the amount was short by only $2.52. After I insisted that I checked everywhere and did not see any cash anywhere, he said he could only give me the $2.52 back. The fact that the random amount of $2.52 was the amount the register was shorted by matches the same cent amount of $12.52 that I was owed definitely indicates that I was shorted and that there was a miscount. However, he would not believe my testimonial and I knew I wasn't going to be getting the $10 back. So I ended up returning the magazine I purchased. He made sure to tell me that they do not return magazines, but he would make an exception. After the return was finalized, he added more to the petty fuel by saying, "So, I guess you are keeping the bag." Yes, I am keeping the bag! I think that is just a little bit of compensation I can get for losing $10 and getting horrible customer service. So awful. I work in Customer Service and I would get fired in a heartbeat if I treated a customer the way he treated me. If you have to go to this store, avoid him at all costs. To the management of the store - Doc needs a re-training in not only customer service, but not being pushy when offering the store membership. Unbelievable.
