Just a great place to have in a great city!
I was in town visiting my family when a man wouldn't let me merge when my lane was ending on the highway. No marks on my car, but he claimed his had damages and we had to file a police report. great. 45 minutes later a police officer finally shows up. Who takes one look at my rental car license plate and then at me, and then proceeds to not believe a word I'm saying, even though what I'm saying matches the lack of damages on my car, and the scrapes on his headlight on his car. (his head light scraped against the back corner of my car behind the tire). Long story short this cop fills out the report completely wrong, like wrong information all over, wrong location on the road, wrong location of where the cars hit, wrong information about who was driving and in the cars. I file a complaint, another officer calls me, proceeds to argue with me over the facts. Then calls me back to say they talked to the other guy and I was right, but they aren't going to fix the report because it was my fault I should have made sure there was enough room to merge. Seriously? My lane literally was ending. when I asked what the officer would have done in this situation they couldn't give me an answer. So now you you know, if you want to set someone up for insurance fraud, get them to merge when their merge lane is ending and they are forced to and don't let them in, the Asheville police dept will help you file a police report and you can make a claim for $1000k in damages for a scraped headlight. (because the according to the Asheville police, they aren't expected to know generally how much damages are)
Completely unhelpful and unfriendly
I used to work downtown, I dealt with every member of the APD and all of them were nothing short of professional and courteous. And when I was in a pinch...I was taken care of. xoxo Batman
When I returned the rental car and told them what happened they looked at the car and said there was no damage.
I came to file a report for my credit card being stolen and 3 withdrawls from my account at the request of my bank. The lady who took the report was pretty rude. Im not sure of her name but she was tall, dark skinned and thin. She was interrogating me as if I was lying about a crime that happened to myself. As if I enjoyed missing work to come to the police station. I understand these folks deal with a lot of different kinds of people but the golden rule should always apply, kindness. Especially when your dealing with the Public who has had a crime commited against them. This does happen to be your job, to file reports. The other lady in the office was very helpful and sweet.
