So far so good. I joined about 6 weeks ago, I needed a change from the Y. It’s less crowded even when it’s busier, more machines, more options, and the staff always seem friendly. I feel more motivated. Happy with the change so far.
Best Gym in Asheville, Seems most the low star reviews are by people who have not read their contracts. If your monthly payment declines for any reason They do Charge a $20 decline fee which can easily be waived if you communicate the situation to the front desk. All Cancellations have a 30day notice period in which you will be billed for one last payment.
I love going to this gym. The equipment is nice and the staff is the best. Debra always manages to brighten my day by welcoming me to the gym and making me feel welcome. She gratefully makes smoothies for me and my friend with no complaining.
Very nice facility and friendly staff. However, 3 people warned me that they often overcharge for no reason (including a friend of mine who works at a local bank and has received multiple calls from customers questioning extra charges from Gold's). I decided to join this gym anyway because it's location is very convenient for me, but 3-months in they've already overcharged me. In addition to my monthly fee, they charged my bank account an extra $20 and $12 this month. When I called, they could not explain why I was charged $20! This seems very sketchy to me. The $12 charge was for "Kids Club" which I cancelled 2 months ago. Gold's has overcharged a girl I work with twice this year. I wonder how much money Gold's has made off people who haven't noticed the extra charges?
The picture below is a screenshot of only SOME of the charges this Gold's made to my checking account in the course of one day. I moved somewhere that has no Gold's Gyms and called to cancel my membership. I was told on the phone they would cancel my membership that day, no problem. They have since charged a total of over $400 to my bank account. I've called several times and they refuse to let me speak with a manager. I've been hung up on, told they don't have a manager at this time, and left messages that were never returned. When I tried contacting the corporate office about this, I was automatically redirected to this location and hung up on again. It's worth mentioning that even before these charges after I was told my membership was cancelled, the monthly fees I was charged for were always different and only once was it the amount I actually agreed to pay when I joined. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. They will use it freely whenever they please. Again, the screenshot below just shows a small portion of the money they've continued taking from me even after I cancelled my membership.
