This school is a scam school. If you are interested in the nursing program, DONT LET THEM CONVINCE YOU that you will "pretty much" be accepted in to the major program if you do your pre-requisites there. They tell that to everyone. They also told me that they were pretty much accredited for the BSN, which is why I initially went there. They were denied accreditation and still are only nationally accredited. This means that NO CREDITS you take there will transfer to any other school- not ab tech or western etc. So unless you are guaranteed, in writing, admission to any program, you will be in exorbitant debt and having to start over. Im surprised they are legally allowed to operate. Be aware. Get things in writing, or record your conversations with any admin people.
I've been at South College for about a year now, still have another year to go. So far I love it. It's a private college, so it is small with small classes. The teachers are awesome; they really value your education. It is very expensive, but worth it. The credentialing you receive is higher than other schools in the area. I went to AB Tech to register for classes, after three consecutive days of financial aid giving me the run-around, I was told I didn't qualify and would have to pay out-of-pocket. I made an appointment with a South College admin rep on a Saturday, spent half a day getting financial aid and registration squared away, and started classes the second Monday after. I can't speak for the legal or business fields, but I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to go into the health field.
Far overpriced for what you get. Below average teaching, little career guidance, and constant staff turnover. The quality of the teaching and flexibility of class offerings at ABTech or HCC are far superior if you are looking for a two year degree. If you want a four year degree WCU or UNCA are much more affordable and have better job placement connections in my experience.
Recent grad from Nursing program and i will say yes it is expensive and accelerated, but i was never lied to by any of the advisors or faculty. I feel they prepared me well for NCLEX and i successfully passed on my first try. I always hear people complain about how thngs are ran; however, what you get is expected and it's up to the student to make it out successfully without incurring any extra debt.
I'm new to south college, but I already luv it! There is a lot more one on one time with your professors. All of The advisors have been so helpful. The size of the school and the small class sizes are perfect for people who r there to learn. the professors are strict about what is allowed in the class room ( water, snacks) but it is all about professionalism. Your not gonna be allowed to have your water bottles with you when your making rounds at the doctors office or wherever your gonna work after school so you might as well get used to it now, right? And as far as money is concerned, you pay for what you get. The accreditations that this school has, far out weigh what other schools have in the area. And they accept Fed. Fin. Aid as well as other types. They even help you fill out all the forms and no payments till 6 Mon. After you graduate. I attended " other " schools and hated the giant class sizes and the teachers seemed too busy to help you. And I was treated like a number and an ATM. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants down to earth teachers, and small class sizes and a quality education.
